אַפָּאI ch. c. same; 1) face, presence. Targ. Ez. 1:6; a. e.; V. אַנְפָּא.Gen. R. s. 35, beg. למיחזי סבר אַפָּאִי to see my countenance. Ib. s. 87 it is right הדין אַפָּהּ כסי that the face of this (idol) is covered.M. Kat. 20b באַפָּהּ in her presence, בלא א׳ in her absence.Transf. front. Ḥull.47a אפהוכ׳ the front (of the lungs) facing the examiner.With ל-, towards, opposite. Snh.72a קאי לאפאי he places himself opposite me (for defence). Pes.111b לאפֵּיה דשמאליה.
